ICYMI - the 2026 Dirty Dozen is here!

Hi Reader,

Normally I wouldn't want to flood your inbox with a second email for the week, but these lists just dropped and I didn't want you to miss it!

The Environmental Working Group (EWG) just released its 2026 Shopper's Guide to Pesticides in Produce, and this year's report has a new wrinkle worth knowing about.

For the first time, EWG is specifically calling out PFAS pesticides - the "forever chemicals" - found on conventional produce. The most frequently detected was fludioxonil, a PFAS fungicide, showing up in 14% of all produce samples and in nearly 90% of peaches and plums. PFAS accumulate in the body over time and have been linked to immune disruption, thyroid dysfunction, and hormonal interference - squarely in the territory of the 3-Legged Stool.

This year's Dirty Dozen: (buy organic whenever possible)
1. Spinach
2. kale/collard/mustard greens
3. Strawberries
4. Grapes (don't forget - that means raisins and wine, too!)
5. Nectarines
6. Blackberries
7. Peaches
8. Cherries
9. Apples
10. Pears
11. Blueberries
12. Potatoes
EWG also flagged green beans and peppers, too.

This year's Clean Fifteen: (OK to consume conventionally-grown/not organic)
1. Pineapple
2. Sweet corn
3. Avocados
4. Papaya
5. Onions
6. Frozen sweet peas
7. Asparagus
8. Cabbage
9. Cauliflower
10. Watermelon
11. Mangoes
12. Bananas
13. Carrots
14. Mushrooms
15. Kiwi

A few practical notes: This isn't a reason to avoid produce - it's a reason to shop smarter. Buy organic for Dirty Dozen items when your budget allows, choose conventional freely from the Clean Fifteen, and wash everything thoroughly regardless. Frozen organic is often more affordable than fresh and just as nutritious.

Reducing your toxic burden is one of the quieter, less glamorous levers in functional health, but it absolutely matters. Your inflammatory response is listening to everything you're putting in, on, and around your body.

Small, consistent choices add up. You got this!

With love,
Lisa

Hi friend, If you've noticed I've been quiet this past year, there's a reason. In September 2024, my mom moved in with us after selling her home in California. Stage IV lung cancer, dwindling treatment options, and a desire to be close to family for whatever time remained. She passed last month after a four-year battle. Caring for a dying mother while building a business, healing through my own traumas, navigating a complex mother-daughter relationship, raising my kids, and showing up as a...

Hi Reader, I received a message recently that touched me in a deep way, and I wanted to share it with you - because this is what the work is really about. A former client of mine, Brandi, reached out to me after nearly two years since we last worked together. We first began working together back when I was just beginning my functional wellness practice. And here’s what she wrote: (Sharing with her full permission, of course💛) “Hi Lisa! It’s Brandi… I know it’s been awhile since we had our...

Hi Reader, I usually don't send emails two days in a row, but I wanted to share something special with you today—something that continues to fill me with both awe and a deep sense of knowing. It happened again today. One of my clients received an exciting new job offer, practically out of the blue. When she told me, I felt that familiar mix of joy and wonder, but also... a sense that this is exactly how things unfold when we do this work. I've noticed this beautiful pattern emerging with many...
